About Us

We believe our primary mission is to become a growing community of followers of Jesus Christ.
We meet together on Sunday mornings in a contemporary setting to Worship God.
We also promote “care groups” – often also referred to as “small groups.” We believe these groups have great potential for building relationships and for personal growth.

CORE VALUES

  • The Bible is God’s perfect Word to be believed, studied and applied.  (2 Timothy 3:16)
Jesus Christ is our foundation and personally knowing Him is the only way to eternal life.
     (John 15:5)
  • God desires for us to grow in our relationship with Him and with others. (Colossians 2:6-7)
  • Prayer is an integral part of our relationship with God. (Acts 2:42)
  • Worship is our personal and united response to God for who He is. (John 4:24)
  • Our church family is encouraged to use Spiritual gifts to serve one another and to work toward unity in Christ. (Philippians 2:2)
  • We are compelled to share our faith in Christ with all people by words and actions.
     (2 Corinthians 5:20)

HISTORY

The vision to establish an Evangelical Free Church in the area began at the March 1995 annual meeting of the North Central District of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
A family from Winnebago attended that conference as members of the East Chain EFC. They felt a new church could be started in the “Highway 169 corridor” between Winnebago and Blue Earth.
In 1996, four couples from the Winnebago / Blue Earth area began meeting for Bible study and prayer.
During the Fall of 1997, Sunday evening worship began at the Winnebago Municipal Center.
In March of 1998, Worship services were held on Sunday mornings and the location was changed to Coleman Hall in Blue Earth.
Dennis Painter was called as the first full-time pastor and began his duties in October of 1998.

April 23, 1999, Cornerstone EFC was officially recognized as an affiliate of the North Central District Association of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
In the Fall of 2000, Cornerstone EFC began meeting at the Performing Arts Center at the Blue Earth Area high school.
Dave Drescher became pastor of Cornerstone EFC in September of 2001.

Dave Drescher Sr. has been our pastor since Sep. 2001. He had served three other churches before moving to Blue Earth. He previously served three years in the US military and worked at various jobs before entering pastoral training.

Dave received a Pastoral Training diploma from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL and a Biblical Studies degree in 1986 from Trinity College, Deerfield, IL.
